First, you will need to acknowledge the hurt and grieve the loss in whatever way you have to (without hurting others). It might be useful to sit and journal about all your feelings (positive and negative), which includes what’s going on with the individual who turned down you. Getting the space to express your feelings will let you get some distance from them and also respond more objectively to the problem.

You may even find it useful to consider how you could have influenced the end result of the denial. You can see enabling you to improve your conduct, and try to all the same mistakes later on. Or, you might see that the rejection has not been your error, and is something that’s merely part of the community all of us live in.

It’s also a good idea to focus on good aspects of your life and work on augmenting a wholesome sense of self-esteem. It could be easy to fall into a trap of self-pity, but performing things like exercise, learning fresh abilities, or getting together with friends and family will help you feel more resilient to rejection in the foreseeable future.
